As Presbyterians, we share our faith with all Christians all around the world.
We believe The Bible is the Word of God and is God’s self-revelation. God has revealed everything He wills us to know through scripture.
We believe God sent Jesus to be crucified on the cross to take our sins upon Him. Because God is just, He cannot allow sin to go unpunished. So Jesus Christ became our sin on the cross and bore the punishment of God to satisfy God’s justice. Because our sin was punished in Jesus Christ, now through faith in Jesus Christ, God reconciles us to God and gives us new life by His grace alone.
Salvation is by God’s grace alone. All are sinful by nature and have fallen short of the Glory of God. Because we cannot make our selves righteous to God, God calls us to be His by His grace.
from Rev. Elizabeth Coleman
As we turn ourselves away from the distractions of this world, the silence we experience feels uncomfortable at first, because we are so used to being caught up in the fast-paced bombardment of sound and sight that come at us continually through the many forms of media and communication that have become common in our collective world experience.
In the silence of Lent, if we take the time to linger there, we will find clarification and understanding. God reveals the “whys” and “wherefores” of our many questions as we seek Him in focused attention.
